About
About Free Gas Online
An independent guide to fuel assistance in the United States, written for people who need a straight answer.
What this site is
Free Gas Online is an independent, free information resource about gas cards, fuel vouchers and transportation assistance in the United States. We are not a government agency, not a charity, and not affiliated with any assistance programme or fuel brand. We cannot approve applications or issue gas cards. What we do is explain which real programmes exist, who qualifies, what they pay, and exactly who to call.
We collect no personal information of any kind. There is no account, no email signup, and no contact form anywhere on this site.
Why we built it
Search for “free gas cards” and you get three kinds of page: thin listicles that recycle each other, blogs attached to cash-advance apps that pivot into selling you a loan, and lead-generation sites that harvest your details. Meanwhile the genuinely useful information — that most help is $25 to $100, that some vouchers expire the same day, that hospital social workers are the people who hold gas cards — appears almost nowhere.
That gap is the whole reason this site exists.
What we do differently
- We publish the limits. Once every 12 months, same-day expiry, one named station, employment tests. These are the details that decide whether a trip to an agency is worth making
- We publish the real amounts. $25 to $100 for most charitable help, not vague promises
- We correct the common errors. Road To Recovery gives rides, not gas cards. LIHEAP does not buy petrol. Michigan’s State Emergency Relief does not cover car repairs. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is now Blood Cancer United
- We say when something is unverified. Where sources disagree — the VFW grant cap is a good example — we say so instead of picking a number
- We collect nothing. No forms, no PII, no lead generation
- We date everything. Every page carries a last-verified date
How this site is funded
The assistance sections of this site carry no advertising and no affiliate links. We will not place cash-advance, payday, title-loan or vehicle-warranty offers anywhere near content written for people in financial crisis. If we ever add commercial content — fuel savings apps or business fuel cards, for example — it will live in a clearly separate section of the site and be labelled as such.
What we are not
- We are not a government agency and have no affiliation with any
- We cannot approve, process or submit an application for you
- We do not issue gas cards, vouchers or money
- We cannot tell you whether a specific agency has funds today — only 2-1-1 and the agency itself can
- Nothing here is legal, financial or medical advice
The one thing to remember
If you need fuel help, the most useful thing on this entire site is a phone number that is not ours: 2-1-1. Free, confidential, usually 24 hours a day, and answered by a person who can tell you which agencies near you have money this week.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Are you a government agency?
No. Free Gas Online is an independent information website with no affiliation to any government agency, charity or fuel brand. We cannot approve applications, issue gas cards or tell you whether a particular agency has funds available today. We explain what exists and point you to the organisations that do have that authority.
Do you collect my personal information?
No. There is no account system, no email signup and no contact form on this site. Our income calculator and options tool run entirely in your browser and transmit nothing. We took that decision deliberately, because a website collecting income and contact details under the heading “free gas” is indistinguishable from the lead-generation and scam pattern that targets this audience.
How do you make money if there are no ads?
The assistance sections carry no advertising and no affiliate links. If commercial content is added in future — fuel savings apps or business fuel cards, for instance — it will sit in a clearly separate and labelled part of the site. We will not run cash-advance, payday, title-loan or vehicle-warranty offers alongside content written for people in financial difficulty.
